:A campus of the Sri Sathya Sai University will be set up at Muddenahalli by SriSathya Sai Baba. This campus will offer degree courses to help students from thearea acquire a degree without having to incur the costs of coming to a collegein Bangalore. Like all of Baba's institutions, this too will be totally free ofcharge.
Baba made this announcement on Sunday evening whileaddressing a huge gathering of devotees on the occasion of his 83rd birthdaycelebrations at the Sai Kulwanth Hall, Prashanti Nilayam. Presently, two schoolsaided by Baba's Trust offer SSLC and CBSC schooling free ofcharge.
Over a lakh of devotees thronged Prashanti Nilayam on Sundayfor the birthday celebrations.
The bedecked ashram wore a festive look.Rameshwar Thakur, Governor of Karnataka, and cricketer Sunil Gavaskar were amongthe devotees.
Baba stressed on the need to cultivate love. He calledon the devotees to harbour love for all, regardless of whether others help orhurt them.
Bhajans and talks on spirituality marked the occasion."It is only the seeds of love that can lead a person to peace and out of thisepidemic of turmoil all around. And this is just what Baba is doing. This iswhat his birthday is all about", said C Sreenivas, who has been closelyassociated with Baba for decades and has worked on all his major social welfareprojects.
Sreenivas summed up the significance of the celebrationsaptly, "Baba's discourse on Saturday dwelt on love. It is perceptible here. Thisis what we need in these troubled times".
